Mark and Elizabeth 4-19-08

Yeah, a wedding! We photographed Elizabeth and Mark's big day a week and a half ago at Central Baptist Church in Fountain City. It was a beautiful weekend for a really great couple.

Here's the highlight reel:

A nice little shaft of late afternoon sun during the rehearsal.

We thought the balloon bride at the rehearsal dinner was a cool touch.

Laughing during the slideshow.

I have no clue what's going on beneath that dress.

And a little post-processing funkiness giving it some old school love.

Easy there tiger.

The kiss.

This church was one of the brightest we've ever been in. Beautiful light from a ton of HUGE windows. A photographer's dream!

But, it was a little warm inside. So when Elizabeth, Mark, and I stepped outside and were immediately hit by a cool breeze, Elizabeth decided to take flight.

And even more post-processing funkiness, dancing around with some grungy textures.

This is for our good buddy Lisa Thomas over on the other side of the state! She's a rocking photographer, but her one downfall is her love of the University of Memphis. ;) Oh wait, Mark loves Memphis too. Go Tigers!!

I don't know why this guy was sneaking around behind Elizabeth's dad with a point and shoot at the reception, but, refusing to be ambushed, I got off the first shot.

Trying not to cry.

And lastly, a little self-portrait fun.

Thanks Mark and Elizabeth. We hope you had a wonderful honeymoon!!

All the best,
Wes

Ladies Spring Extravaganza 5-3-08

Holy smokes are we slammed! We've had two baby sessions and a wedding this weekend. Be patient with me on the updates. They're coming, I promise.

Danielle wanted me to post some info about a show she's doing this weekend while I'm at another portrait session. She'll have a Hope Photography booth set up Saturday, May 3rd from 9am to 2pm at Preservation Plaza in downtown Maryville at the Ladies Spring Extravaganza. Stop by and register to win a free portrait session with us and check out some of our big canvases.

Speaking of which, I've been meaning to post these pics of Maddie posing with a 30x40 canvas of herself. This sucker is a little bigger than life-size. Talk about seeing double. I wish I could clone myself so easily.

We're still striking out on names for the new girlie, so keep the suggestions coming. And I promise, you'll see some wedding images soon!

And the Gender Is...

???

You have to watch the video to find out!!! I will warn you, it's about 5 minutes long, filled with gratuitous cuteness and a little bit of raw ultrasound footage (might bore those of you who aren't "into" the baby thing... shame on you if you aren't ;)

We didn't take one of the "real" cameras with us, so this snappy and the above video where taken with our little point 'n shoot.

(Man, I need a hair cut. That's approaching mullet status).

And here are a few stills from the ultrasound. This first is looking head-on as the baby is on it's side. You can see the face pretty clearly including, what looks like, it giving us the stink eye.

And our tech snuck and gave us a 3D preview. Here's the left side of baby's face (looking left). You can clearly see nose, eye, and it looks like it's sucking it's bottom lip. A pout perhaps?

Okay, if you've read this far, I'm going to assume you haven't cheated and have actually watched the viddy so I can stop saying "it" and get used to saying "her". And no joke. We had a boy's name left over from when Maddie was still a question mark. We are stumped on a girl's name. Everything Danielle suggests, I don't like (or know someone else with that name and I really don't want to do that). And every name I suggest Danielle just shoots me a look. For the record, I still don't see anything wrong with Faith Love Hope.

So click below where it says "comments" and throw out your suggestions. Once we get the ball rolling, I think I'll put together a little poll and let you all vote. And no, we're not eBaying the rights to name the baby (even if it would get me an office, a new bag of gear, and maybe that Beemer I'm wanting).

Alrighty, back to work and saving for two college educations and weddings. Sheesh.

Lilly

Back again! As promised, I wanted to share some from our session with little Miss Lilly in Clinton. She's a 3-month-old cutie (okay, I really have to look up "cutie" in the thesaurus... I'm using that too much lately. But I can't help it. All the kids we've played with lately have just been so darn cute!).

On with the show:

When we got to their house in Clinton, Lilly was napping on Mommy.

S-T-R-E-E-E-T-C-H

Kristin and Chris have this beautiful red comforter on their bed that I was diggin'!

I don't think she was into the shades.

I love photos like this. Yeah, the moment is nice, the light is pretty, the expression is priceless, but this was a test shot... and it's beautiful! We're just that good. ;)

Lilly fell back asleep in Daddy's arms so we had to capitalize on the peaceful moment.

Moments like these are what I love about being a photographer. Lilly woke up and Chris and her just spent a few quiet minutes whispering and playing together. It was one of those beautiful daddy-daughter moments. Alright, enough mushiness!

And she was being so good, I dusted off the macro lens and starting getting up close and personal (and she was very patient).

That's it for now... I'm going to throw a little something together in a bit to let you all know the big news today. Any guesses? You've got a 50/50 shot at being right!

Addison

Greetings all! We had a fun session a little over a week ago with Addison at the UT Trial Gardens. Her family traveled up from Chattanooga for the session and even though it was a little cloudy, we still had fun and made some nice pictures. It helps when you've got such a little cutie to work with.

Here are some of the best:

She *loved* chasing the garden cats!

A little Daddy-Mommy lovin'.

Told you she was a cutie. Look at those eyes!

Stay tuned for another update tomorrow from our session with 3-month-old Lilly. AND we get to go to the doctor tomorrow to find out if Junior is a He or a She. Let the name games begin!!!

Emily+Andrew's Engagement Session

More in the marathon of updates! We hung out with Emily and Andrew a couple of weeks ago and did their engagement session at Hunter Valley Farm, where the reception for their May wedding will be held. Here's a few favorites:

Aren't they cute?

Squishyface.

Piggyback I

Piggyback II

Danielle's probably going to kill me for posting this out-take, but I couldn't help it. Her expression (I think you can just hear her saying, "What the crap?!?") and the dog are just too classic.

That's dedication. Not only is she an awesome assistant holding extra gear, but also a master dog wrangler trying to keep some of the farm pooches out of the photos. Note the use of the reflector as a dog shield? This pug (or whatever it is) and about four of his mates followed us everywhere we went and tried their best to make it in every photo. Little stinkers.

Thanks Emily and Andrew! It was fun and we can't wait for the wedding.

More updates soon everyone... I still have two kid sessions to get busy on and we have Elizabeth and Mark's wedding this weekend!

-Wes

ps: Reminder: Brad's movie premieres tonight. Stop by if you can!
