Gatlinburg Wedding Photography: Kate + Shane 04.07.10

Ready for some more wedding action? Today we're going to share the wedding of Kate and Shane, a super cool Canadian couple who travelled south for their ceremony. Kate and Shane work for their family fishing resort in Ontario, Halley's Camps, and chose to have their wedding in Gatlinburg at Almost Heaven Resort. Who knew that Danielle and I were destination wedding photographers? I guess you don't have to travel the world shooting weddings when the world comes to you. ;)

Kate and Shane had a beautiful mountaintop wedding surrounded by their awesome family and friends. I don't know too many Canadians, but if they're all as cool as this bunch are then we'll gladly photograph every Canadian wedding we can.

Check out Danielle getting all "outside the box" and catching the dress reflection in the shower door. Cool (but kind of eerie)!

Kate being teased.

You fix his collar, I'll fix yours.

Shane shares a laugh with one of his boys.

Here's a word I don't throw out there that often, "debonair." Look it up in the dictionary and you'll find this guy.

Who. Lost. The. $#@%!. Bottle. Opener!!

The beautiful bride.

I can honestly say I've never framed a bride with logs on a cabin before. I love firsts.

On to the ceremony.

Almost Heaven is simply amazing. It feels like you're at the top of the world.

Ah, nothing like the wedding guest paparazzi. ;)

Kissyface!

Yeah, so I totally ripped this shot off a great photographer I know. ;)

Mmm… chocolate. It's what's for dinner!

Maybe this is a Canadian snowmobiling gesture. I'll have to ask Shane what he's doing here.

I told you the bride and groom have a cool fishing connection… how about spoon lures as wedding favors? And you know we had to use one for some ring details.

These four were wrestling all day long. UFC… Ultimate Fighting Children.

I finally remembered to whip out my Lensbaby at a wedding!

Look at the view from this place! If you love the mountains and need a place to have your wedding, you'd be well served to check out Almost Heaven.

There was some great emotion during the toasts/slideshow.

Even Kate's mom got in on the teary act. :)

Told you… chocolate!

First dance.

Daddy-daughter dance. We keep getting all of the great teary eyed dads… it wrecks me while I'm shooting. I have TWO daughters!

Yummy.

Shane has a laugh at one of his boy's expense.

The toss.

The party.

The WTH???

Oops.

Alright, this by itself is not a special photo, but I love how the mix of the smoke and the laser from the DJ stand looks like a flamethrower firing off behind Kate. I know, I'm juvenile. But I thought it was cool!

The stars over Gatlinburg. I had an idea to try this on the way up to the 'Burg so we mentioned it to Shane and Kate at the end of the night and they were game. I've never tried a image like this so there has a healthy chunk of experimentation involved. If I attempt it again, I'll drag the shutter longer to get bigger star trails, but Shane and Kate were troopers standing still for each of the minute and a half long exposures I did (four of them!). I'm happy for our first attempt!

Thanks again and congratulations Kate and Shane! And if any of you blog readers love to fish, check out their site and plan a visit: www.halleyscamps.com. Personally, I'm a fishing failure (needless to say, fish see me coming and sigh with relief), but this place looks great! Who knows, I might be able to hook a keeper or two with their help.

Rockstars or mockstars?

So I'm sure many of you remember our whacky ad in last year's edition of Premier Bride (if not, or if you just want to see me in a dress again, go here). Everyone loved it and we had a huge response from the ad (the most in the 4 years or so we've advertised). So then the problem becomes, how do we top that? Still thinking outside the box and trying to stand out from the crowd a little, here's our latest ad…

(Don't worry... it's not as bad as me in a dress.)

(You still may want to remove all beverages away from your computer though.)

Does it top last year? Maybe, maybe not. But we're still just as fun and crazy as always. ;) Be sure to let us know what you think!

Maryville Children's Photography - Clare + Adam

Happy Friday everyone! Today I wanted to share some photos from a recent portrait session. We first met this cute pair of kiddos almost two years ago (hope in the way back machine and view their photos here). Clare and Adam's mom, Amy, had seen a huge canvas we have of Maddie in a field of daffodils (when she was two!) hanging in our living room and told us that she had to have a photo of her kids in the daffodils. So a couple weeks ago when the field was in bloom, Amy redeemed a gift certificate of ours she won at a Secret Safe Place for Newborns silent auction last year and we had a blast photographing the kids once again.

Isn't Clare pretty?

And Adam's a ham!

Clare said, "I'm a cat!"

And Adam said, "iieeeee!" :)

He was trying to show me how he can flip.

Such a cutie!

Adam kept attacking me with a stick. I think that meant he liked me.

I love this… one of the few photos I was able to capture of them together. Can't you just feel the brotherly love in these? ;)

Oh, to be young and carefree again!

Thanks for playing, Clare and Adam!!
