Knoxville Wedding Photography - Sarah + Terence 08.13.10

What do you get when you mix a paddleboat, a zoot suit, peacock feathers, tattoos, gorgeous skies, and a ton of humidity? The awesome wedding I'm about to show off!

Sarah, our landlord and owner of Vivid Tattoo in Knoxville, asked us a few months ago to photograph her Friday the 13th nuptials to Terence on the Watts Bar Belle in Lenoir City. How could we pass it up? It was hot as Hades (I was begging for a few more knots out of the ol' Belle so we could have had some sort of breeze), but a beautiful day nonetheless. Here are a few faves...

Sarah had a ton of cool DIY projects at the wedding.

Decorating the top of the boat.

Don't worry, no one saw you drop that paper lantern into the lake. Well, I did. And I took a picture. ;p

Check out the cool hat!

This is Terence, the groom, by the way.

Waiting...

Walking… (looks like a bunch of puffy clouds above them, huh?)

Marrying...

Happy.

They timed it perfectly… check out the post sunset sky!

Mr. and Mrs. Gordon.

Hail mary!

That's some hard core gang signs boys.

Yummy sky!

We hijacked the wheelhouse for a few minutes. It was the coolest spot on the ship. I guess the Captain needs his AC. It's good to be the king.

I *love* these next few with the video light...

Old Hollywood style!

Sarah baked AND decorated the cake!

Birds of a feather...

Don't worry, grandma isn't smacking Terence. :)

A little group shot at the end of the night.

And check out the old Dodge Terence owns! I wish we could have played more with it, but as you can see, it was pretty much pitch dark by the time we made it back to shore!

Congratulations Sarah and Terence!! You had a beautiful and fun wedding!

Knoxville Family Photography - The Whaleys

Happy Monday morning everyone (if there is such a thing, right?)!

Today I wanted to share some photos from Danielle and Brittany's first official session together at the UT Ag Gardens! A few weeks ago when this whole partnership was still in the works, Danielle helped Brittany with one of her sessions and in return they tackled one of our all-star clients, the Whaley's (see their fall session last year here), to see how well the two of them worked together. And after working on the Whaley photos for them, I knew that Danielle and Brittany were on to something. They did a great job!

Here are a few favorites from their session...

We love the Whaley's. They're our brand of nutty.

Dillon LOVES having his picture taken.

Brothers, part I.

Brittany said that Colton was trying to see his reflection in her lens... how cute is that?

Brothers, part II.

We photographed Amy and Jeremy's wedding 7 years ago... and they still got it!!

One happy family!

Dillon swiped Brittany's camera and turned the tables on her... he might just have a future in photography!

I *love* this family photo.

Um, Jeremy, don't look now, but you've got a monkey on your back!

Thank you wonderful Whaley family for being Danielle and Brittany's guinea pigs! I hope you love the photos! They look great!

Some exciting news!!

We have some exciting news to share! Some of you may know our assistant/third shooter, Brittany, from recent weddings and from mentions here on the old bloggeroo. Well, she's moving on up from assistant to associate! Brittany already has a successful portrait business of her own, but she's wanting to help us take ours to the next level. And that's the big news... Danielle and Brittany are teaming up to take over the portrait side of Hope Photography!

Does that mean that I won't be involved with the portraits? Absolutely not. I'll still do some sessions and I'll be handling all of the back-end work. But this little joint venture will accomplish two things: 1) It will free me up so I can focus on the huge amount of back-end work that goes with the 20+ weddings we photograph every year. And 2) this will give the portrait side of our business the attention it deserves.

Any changes to the wedding side of the business? Nope. Danielle will still be working with me at every wedding. We're a husband and wife team after all! But this does open up the possibility of Brittany taking on smaller weddings by herself when we're already booked. We're still working out those details.

What kind of portraits will this dynamic duo be doing? The same portraits we do now: maternity, newborns, babies, toddlers, big kids, families, and seniors (Danielle and I will still be doing all engagement portrait sessions). Most of it will be our lifestyle on location portraits, but look for some studio stuff pretty soon (that's new!).

We have a ton of exciting news to share with you all on the blog and our Facebook Fan Page over the next few months so stay tuned! But first, I want you to meet Brittany (and Danielle):

I can't guarantee that sessions will be as fun without me present, but I'll bet you they'll have their own brand of fun. They're crazy!

And let's face it, they are both a whooooole lot cuter than me.

Might as well JUMP!

Rawr!

So speaking of specials, the girls have decided that the first one they want to do is a mini-session for grandparents and their grandkids...

Can you imagine how priceless these photos will be for, not only the grandparent's in our lives, but also our children? I honestly wish I had a nice professional portrait taken with all of my grandparent's when I was younger. I treasure and cherish every snapshot I can find now that three of them have passed on. What an amazing gift a mini-session like this will be!! To schedule a session for your loved ones, send Danielle an email at info@hope-photo.com or give us a call at 865-977-6483.

Like I said, stay tuned for upcoming announcements. Subscribe to the blog and become a fan on Facebook.

Now, time to get back to work... I've got three weddings I need to finish!

PS: This just in! Already another announcement. Actually, Danielle just reminded me of something I forgot to mention: this Friday evening, Aug. 27th, from 5pm-9pm stop by the new children's boutique in Maryville, LolliPops, to meet Danielle and Brittany during the Last Friday Artwalk by the Maryville Arts Coalition. They'll have some work on display, will be handing out info about an upcoming fall special, and you can check out the super-cute clothes at LolliPops!!
