Maryville Portrait Photography - Becky and Mac's Fall Session

Happy fall everyone! We kick off this week with our first fall portrait session. Instead of a cute kiddo though, we have a cute couple! Becky and Mac have been married for 14 years and thought it was time to do some new photos of the two of them. And we were happy to oblige. Heck, it made Danielle and I realize that we're coming up on 10 years and we don't have any professional photos of just the two of us (we'll work on that in 2010). Mac does a lot of traveling for his job, so we had to schedule the session right before the leaves starting exploding with color, but we were able to find some around Maryville College and the Maryville Greenbelt.

Here are a few of our favorites...

Mac had to get the smile muscles stretched. We put him through a workout. ;)

Some bridgy-sun-shiny-goodness.

Such a happy couple!

I love the sun-flare Danielle grabbed on this one.

Thanks Becky and Mac! We had a great time hanging out with you both. :)

Later,
Wes

Coming next: I'm sneaking in our dear friend Katelyn's maternity photos (hopefully before she has the baby) and then the second wedding of our double header weekend, Misty and Matt's Dara's Garden wedding!

Whitestone Wedding Photography - Rachel+Hugh 10.17.09

Our third wedding in Octoblitz and the first wedding of our double-header weekend was with Rachel and Hugh at Whitestone Inn, or as Danielle and I like to refer to it as “the place where we had the best wedding food we’ve ever eaten”.  :) The weather wasn’t the best, but luckily the couple had planned for an indoor ceremony so the ice-cold wind and light rainy mist didn’t dampen their spirits (or the rockin' reception later on) and we still managed to sneak outside and get a few portraits.

Enjoy some favorites from their day...

Rachel looking beautiful in some nice window light.

Danielle borrowed the bouquet for a cool photo in the getting ready area.

Told you it was a tad bit windy.

Gorgeous!

Love this long staircase outside.

Rachel waiting to ascend the stairs for the ceremony to start.

Whitestone has such a pretty little chapel.

I think this little cutie was waiting for someone else to come through the doors.

The ring was dropped during the exchange and before any heckling could begin, Hugh kept the crowd in check.

Bubbles!

We're married!

Danielle found a little bit of fall color starting to show itself.

A little first dance twirl.

Rachel's mom pieced together this quilt we photographed the rings on for the couple to use as a sort of guestbook.

The toss. I wish every venue had a cool staircase to throw the bouquet from.

This should be a ride at Disney World.

Thanks Rachel and Hugh! It was a beautiful wedding!

Wes

Knoxville Engagement Photography - Elizabeth and David

A couple weeks ago we squeezed in an engagement session for one of our 2010 couples, Elizabeth and David. We met up with them at one of our old haunts, the UT Ag Gardens, and then headed to the World's Fair Park to play in the fading light. I say fading light because, once again, we started shooting and were having so much fun that we literally shot until it was too dark to photograph any more. Good times!!

Here are some faves from their session...

Elizabeth and David brought their pooch Hallie along for a few photos.

Danielle hid in the bushes for this photo.

And I crouched down in the grass for this one. We probably looked like a pair of paparazzo stalking Elizabeth and David. :)

I always hope that folks will let me know if a train is coming up behind me. I guess I'll just have to watch for the look of terror on their faces as my warning.

Cool staircase at the L&N.

Empty playground + big kids = FUN!

Maybe I don't get out much, but I thought this was one of the coolest things ever. They didn't have such cool contraptions when I was a kid (apparently David thought it was pretty cool too!).

David got a little inverted, so Elizabeth gave him a kiss, Spiderman style.

Hope Photography has a few graffiti artists on staff armed with chalk. They scout ahead before engagement session and tag cool walls like this for us. (Not really, but how cool would that be?)

Someone left the lights on at the amphitheater so I had Elizabeth and Dave jump in the spotlight. I should have Photoshopped a thousand screaming fans in the background.

I wanted to put some lyrics from the Red Hot Chili Peppers "Under the Bridge" with this photo, but the more I thought about it, the more I realized that's not really a good song to pair up with lovey-dove photos. Nothing says romance like a song about shooting smack.

Thanks for playing Elizabeth and David! We're looking forward to the wedding!

Wes

Knoxville Wedding Photography: Melissa+Michael 10.10.09

"Octoblitz" is almost over... and I'm still alive! I'm churning out the photos as fast as I can and today I want to share some highlights from Melissa and Michael's wedding at the Yacht Club on Tellico Lake in Loudon. The weather was kind of crappy, but it cleared up just in time for the ceremony and Melissa and Michael had a beautiful wedding (and one heck of a rockin' party afterwards).

Enjoy some of our favorites...

I love this detail photo Danielle got during the makeup process.

Aside from the misty, cloudy weather, the only other snafu was one of Melissa's new shoes broke. Luckily someone had some tape and patched it back together until replacements were found.

Melissa gives the shoes a little subtle message during the portraits. She handled the whole situation great. There's not much you can do, but roll with it right? Her amazing attitude prompted me to coin the phrase, "shoe happens" (the irony is that I noticed halfway through the ceremony that the brand new pair of Rockports I was wearing had split at one of the seams. Eh, shoe happens!).

The beautiful bride.

Little Bryson, the ringbearer, with a classic look.

He was a little rambunctious too. We were in the middle of photographing the guys when we hear Bryson say to his dad, "I love puddles!". I turned and fired just as he leapt and our assistant, Beth "Where's Waldo", tried to stop the little guy from hitting a slick spot on the decking. But it was too late.*

A little pre ceremony get-down.

It never really rained, but there was a heavy mist that fell for about 30 minutes before the ceremony. Danielle chipped in to help wipe the chairs dry and I couldn't resist getting a shot of her in action. Hope Photography: Not only are we awesome photographers, we clean too!

The bridesmaids and bridesdude (Melissa's brother) did a little dancing before the bride entered.

I love this daddy-daughter walking in photo.

I hope the rings aren't tied to that thing!

A little lipstick smudginess after the kiss.

It's goooooood!

Trying something different for the wedding party photo.

The happy couple.

Love love love this spiral staircase we found.

A ring detail on the uber-cool bouquet by Lisa Foster.

During the reception I caught the couple kissing as I walked past one of the crystal tree centerpieces (also by Lisa Foster).

"Dōmo arigatō, Mr. Roboto"

Some folks just can't handle a good party.

During the toasts.

Umm...

Aww...

Tie. It's what's for dinner.

What can I say? The ladies love me!

Three of the guests entertained with some old school breakdancing. I would have had photos of the third too, but he got his start right in front of me and I got kicked in the nose. Yep, kinda hard to shoot when your eyes are tearing up after a direct hit to the ole schnoz. Nothing like being in the middle of the action though, huh?

The bride dances with her new father-in-law...

A minute later she dips again, but forgot to let him know. Gravity takes over...

But she's up and alright folks! Nothing to see here; move along!*

Last dance.

"Take us with you!!"

Alright kids, that's it for now. I hope you enjoyed the show. A big thanks to Melissa and Michael for letting us photograph the wedding!

Later,
Wes

Coming up: An engagement session in the midst of all these weddings!

*No ringbearers or brides were harmed in the making of these photos.
