Knoxville Wedding Photography - Heather + Kevin 08.09.12

It's easy to forget the core of a wedding sometimes. It's not about all the decorations and the beautiful venues and the yummy food. A wedding simply needs to be two people in love saying their vows. It's cool to get little reminders about how simple and beautiful a wedding can be no matter where it is.

Heather and Kevin called us last minute a couple weeks ago and asked if we were available that day to shoot their wedding at the Knox County Courthouse. Thankfully we were. Kevin is on the road a lot with his job and has a crazy schedule, so while he was home, they decided to just take the opportunity and do it.

We gathered up some gear, called a babysitter, and headed to town. And then a storm hit. Not just a storm, a monsoon. No real worries… we just had to improvise. I had all these ideas to shoot around the courthouse, but we made the inside work. At least I think we did. Let me know what you think. :)

It's not every wedding where the couple has to walk through a metal detector before their nuptials. :)

Heather hugging the preacher, a family friend. They had a just a few friends and family with them for their little wedding.

Heather and Kevin have the cutest (and fearless) little three year-old named Ken. He made quick use of a bannister for entertainment.

We tried doing a few portraits on the front porch of the old courthouse, but it was sooooo dark. I'm telling you, it was pouring rain.

The wind started blowing the rain in on us, so we moved back inside. We found one spot in the county government building that wasn't ugly. And then we put this beautiful bride and handsome guy in it. :)

Aren't they cute?

Ken was a jumper.

I love that look Heather is giving Kevin.

The ceremony.

Married!!

Told you Ken was a jumper. ;)

By the time the ceremony was over, the rain had slacked off. We still couldn't shoot outside, but we went back on the porch for a couple more.

The happy couple!

Kevin and Ken hanging out in the rain waiting not the ladies.

Thank you so much Heather and Kevin! It was an honor to be a part of your little wedding!

Maryville Portrait Photography - Ava at 6 months

There are happy babies, and then there are HAPPY babies. Ava is 6 months now (we did her newborn photos too) and she is one of the smilingest (new word) babies we've ever photographed. :)

To tell you the truth, it was her grandma singing over my shoulder that got these grins every time.

A star has to have her handlers off to the side.

That face!

Mmm… beads. It's what's for dinner.

Okay, one of her not smiling just to prove she has a serious side.

See? Happy baby! We love happy babies! Thank you Ava!

Knoxville Portrait Photography - The Dahl Sisters

The relationship sisters have is a pretty cool thing. I say this as an only child, but also as the father to two little girls. So I loved it when we got the call from Becky to do a session of her and her sister, Melissa. We did another sister session this time last year for one of our former brides and I thought it was a great idea then. I'm starting to think maybe we need to do these more often. Heck, not just sisters; any siblings!

Melissa was visiting Becky, who recently moved to Knoxville, so we met up at the UT Ag Gardens for the session. These two were a hoot to photograph.

That's Becky on the left and Melissa on the right. :)

We got a ton of these great looks they kept giving each other. It's almost like they could ready each others' minds.

Sisters gotta fight.

They like to laugh. A lot. :)

Looks like an album cover.

Careful… they'll freeze like that.

I think Melissa was saying, "that's enough!" but I had to keep going for a few more.

Thank you Dahl sisters!

Knoxville Portrait Photography - Jackson at 6 Months

Hey everybody, I hope you're having a great week! Today on the blog is an adorable 6 month old named Jackson. And be warned… he's too stinking cute!

See?

Mmm… chair. It's what's for dinner.

Someone's a Vol fan!

I totally didn't get the 1/2 reference… Danielle had to explain it to me (in case you're like me, it's because he's half a year old. I thought maybe he had a twin brother or sister somewhere that we hadn't met yet).

A few with Mom and Dad. Babies always hate the smooshie face photos.

The real reason us dads go bald.

Thanks Jackson! You were so easy to work with!
