Foto February: Mark's Mustang

Phew! I had no idea this little Free February Friday project idea was going to explode the way it has! Thanks to everyone for the support and the project suggestions. I actually just discovered a few emails lodged in my spam folder so I have even more emailing to do! It's been awesome... not going to lie, a bit overwhelming, but awesome. I've photographed several assignments already so I'm going to start spacing some blog posts over the next few weeks. If you're new to our blog, check out the previous post to catch what I'm talking about.

First up is something near and dear to my heart: a cool classic car! One of our portrait clients read about my project and contacted her dad, who has a beautiful 1966 Ford Mustang. He was gracious enough to let me swing by his Maryville office one afternoon and let me photograph his beauty.

I started up with some "safe" shots. Mark bought the Mustang a few years ago and had it restored to this pristine condition.

I love the subtle flames.

Once the safe shots where in the bag, it was time to experiment a little.

A little low and wide. Not sure if I'm crazy about the distortion, but you know, this whole project is about trying new things.

Love the details!

Those lines! They don't make cars like that anymore.

I felt like the true colors really suited all the photos, but this one looked good with some warm, late afternoon hues.

Porn for car guys.

289 cubic inches of power!

Thank you so much, Mark!

I remember spending hours pouring over photos of classic and exotic cars in magazines when I was a kid. And I've always wanted to photograph cars. I've done it a couple times (check out this cool 350Z from four year ago) and hopefully this session, as well as another cool Mustang I'll share next week, will lead to the start of an automotive branch of Hope Photography. :)
