Happy October everyone! The start of what I am lovingly calling "Octoblitz" has descended upon us. We started off on the 1st with a great little wedding by a couple of friends of ours. I used to work with Karen and Darren at the Daily Times before we all went off to bigger and brighter things. They decided to tie the knot recently, but instead of doing a big blow-out, they opted to keep it sweet and simple. We met them, and ten of their friends, near the Blount County Courthouse in downtown Maryville Thursday morning for the civil ceremony followed by a quick "engagement" session and then we all reconvened at
Sullivan's Downtown for lunch.
Darren and Karen are such a fun couple to be around. You can truly tell that they are madly in love with each other and enjoy every minute they are together. And it was an honor to be a part of their wedding day. It proved to us that the size of the wedding doesn't matter; it's the amount of love in the couples' hearts that makes the day so special.
Please enjoy a few of our favorites...
Darren and Karen share a little moment while we waited on the officiant, Alcoa Commissioner George Williams.Walking to the Greenbelt.A nice look during the ceremony.Lance, another former Times staffer who is now the editor of Blount Today, tries to grab a snapshot of Karen's nephew, Jordan, during the ceremony.George holds up the rings. The beautiful kiss.Followed by a scary kiss. I don't think Darren was too into this. The Mr. and Mrs.The tunnel of love.Once he learns how to strip off those overalls, Jordan will have a future career as a streaker (as he's chased by mom/Karen's sister/the matron of honor, Kathy).Darren obviously prefers Karen's kisses over the boys in the earlier photo. They love to laugh.Another appearance by my favorite wall!Beautimus.I don't remember what was said, but I'm sure it was funny.Danielle caught the flash...and I caught the text. :)Kathy makes a toast during lunch.--WARNING-- Gratuitous cute kid photos coming up next!
Little Jordan kept playing by a window at Sullivan's and I couldn't resist the yummy light. He's so stinkin' cute! And he passed out during lunch. It had been a long day for the little tike. One more laugh. Thanks again Darren and Karen! Best wishes for you both!!
