Dawn+Curt: The Wedding 05.31.09

Welcome back! Things are moving along and I'm ticking stuff off my to-do list at a good pace. Up next is the second half of the continuation of the CrazyMay teaser post featuring Curt and Dawn's wedding. They had a beautiful day at Curt's family home in Walland. I'm going to try not to sound too much like an excited kid here, but it... was... AWESOME! Drums, Vans, tools, motorcycles, a classic Mustang, Jones Soda, a boat, walkie-talkies, Bigfoot, Lightsabers, beautiful girls, and parasols! Okay, maybe parasols is taking it a bit far for the over-excited kid angle, but come on, the rest of that stuff rocks! :)

We knew we were going to fit right in at Curt and Dawn's wedding when Curt first called us; "We have to have the dude in the dress shoot our wedding!" (If you have no idea what I'm talking about, first where have you been? And second, check out our information page). Not so much because he and I have a propensity for fat guys in dresses, but because we all love to have fun. And fun was certainly had at their wedding.

Check out some of our favorites...

Curt taking a friends bike for a quick spin before getting ready.

"Off The Wall"

Look at Dawn's expression. Then look at what the bridesmaid on the right is holding. What the deuce is going on?!?

Groomsman attack!

I have to give props to our buddy Lisa Foster for a beautiful, simple bouquet.

Dawn looking radiant in a sea of parasols.

Studly.

How cool is this? Curt and Dawn had some personalized Jones Soda bottles for the reception.

There were all sorts of cool spots to do ring shots.

Score another one for Beth (SuperAssistant). She's been having fun with reflections lately.

A shared laugh during the ceremony.

Sneaking a kiss after they tied the knot.

A little note from Curt to Dawn.

Awww...

I don't ask questions folks, I just photograph what they ask me to photograph.

Aren't they cute?

A little sunflare love.

Curt and Dawn are fans of the funkiness. So I played a lot in post production.

Danielle hung out across the pond to get some scenic photos.

A little bridge cuddling.

Here's the backstory: Curt thought it would be cool if he and Dawn hopped out on a little island in the stream for a few quick photos. Of course I thought it was a great idea. But we there was the issue of them getting to the island. There was talk of a paddleboat (I don't know about that), but Curt thought a ladder-bridge would work. Someone produced a ladder (not something that we normally keep in our camera bag) and the ever so wise Dawn quickly said, "Um. I don't think so." They did test it out though, but this is as far as Curt got. Island or no island, they're still some fun photos.

"Sittin' on the dock of the bay..."

I've warned you, I'm a car nut.

Curt takes an unconventional approach to cutting the cake, kung-fu style.

Big sky country.

Love in a lawn chair.

First dance.

In the teaser, I showed you a photo of the elusive Big foot. Here, Curt chases him down on foot. Not so much as to scare him away from the ceremony, but I think to get a hug from the furry guy. He never caught up to him though. :(

There you go! Curt and Dawn, thanks so much!!

That's it from me for a few days. I may be all proud about getting a couple things knocked off my to-do list, but that doesn't mean I'm caught up. Diving back into the photo mines in the morning. Have a great rest of the week everyone!

Amanda+Jason: The Wedding 05.30.09

So I teased you. And then I made you wait a little longer than promised. Sorry about that, but life after vacation was just as crazy as before we left. It really made me want to just turn around and head back to the warm, clear waters of the Caribbean. But I'm a responsible photographer and would never do that. At least not until I wrapped everything up for our clients. ;)

We continue on after the teaser post with the rest of Amanda and Jason's great wedding at Butterfly Gap. These two are a fun couple who we first photo photographed back in November at their engagement session also at the Gap. They had a beautiful wedding and it was such a joy being a part of it.

Here are few (more) favorites from their big day!

The maid of honor knows how to get it done. When all else fails, get in the sink!

A sweet moment after mom saw Amanda in her dress.

The beautiful bride.

How cool is it when a bride says, "Can I climb in the window?" :)

Unfortunately, it being Tennessee and the time of year it is, it was a wee bit "buggy" out.

Jason playing it cool.

Orange.

On the way to the ceremony, Danielle caught the boys "Reservoir Dogs" style.

Hanging with guys.

Amanda's dad drove her to the site in his sweet yellow Corvette. We left Beth (SuperAssistant) in the woods to get a few photos as they drove past.

The lovely couple. :)

JumpySunflare!

Remember the teaser last week? Here's what made Amanda laugh so much (well this, and all the comments we were all making).

Mr. and Mrs. Shockley.

Score another one for Danielle.

I <3 this one.

Gotta love a wedding with a little hacky sack!

It's not a Butterfly Gap wedding without a little blue wall love.

Or orange wall love for that matter.

This is the year of emotional father-daughter dances. It's hard to photograph when I'm tearing up too.

Easy boy!

A love this little moment between Amanda and her mom while they listen to a friend sing during the reception.

One last KissyFace.

I hope you enjoyed the show and that it was worth the wait! I'm working as hard as I can to get caught up (in other words, I live in front of the computer these days) from CrazyMay's weddings and some album orders that have rolled it. Does anybody have a cloning machine? I could use about two more of me in the office. Although me times three would probably push poor Danielle over the edge. :)

Until we meet again,
Wes
