Ginger's Kids

Greetings everyone! We have some big news (and no, the baby isn't here yet... 5 more weeks we hope). We've recently joined forces with the newest children's resale boutique in the area, Gingerly Dressed. Here's the deal, Ginger, the owner, has two adorable little kiddos and one very cool shop that had some blank walls. Have you figured it out yet? We did a session with Marc and Brynn last week at their home and we're planning on hanging some of our awesome canvas gallery wraps in the store to not only highlight our work, but to show off her good looking kids!

So coming soon we'll post some photos of the canvases hanging in the shop, but until they come in, how about checking out some of our favorites from the session:

Brother and sister. They get along great! Well, at least they did during the session. :)

Marc looks so grown up.

And check out little serious looking Brynn.

The next two have a nice old photo feel to them.

The next [insert famous violinist's name here].

And the next [insert famous pianist's name here]. (Can you tell I slept through music appreciation in college?)

Marc and Brynn kept falling down (on purpose... I think) while I was photographing in the doorway. So instead of fighting it, you shoot it!

A little lawn mower race. I tried to convince them to swing by our house and tackle our jungle, but no dice.

A boy and his trucks.

Brotherly love means squeezing the crap out of your little sister (oops, I said crap).

If you need some beautiful homemade boutique items, gently used clothes or new baby gift ideas be sure to stop by the shop in Alcoa. Don't forget to tell them we sent you!

Back to work... more sessions coming soon!

The Cobb Family

Last week I went solo to visit the Cobbs' house for some family portraits and to see how the girls have grown. We've photographed Madelyn, Emma, and little Lydia before (two images are on our website here and here) so it was cool to see how much they've changed in a year.

Some top choices:

What a good looking family!

Stephen and his girls.

Christina and her girls.

We had to take a break to play for a few minutes.

Throughout the session bubbles were on-hand for some entertainment and each girl took turns playing with them.

Thanks Cobbs! It was really good to see you all again!

Gettin' trashed!

Yes, I am still around! Big thanks to Danielle for filling in there for a few days. I've been wearing the mouse down working up a bunch of portrait sessions we've had lately. Bad for me because my to-do list is a mile long. Good for you because it means a bunch of blog posts over the next few weeks.

Waaaay last year when Stephanie and Rob, who were married this past May, talked to us about doing their wedding, one of the first things Stephanie asked was if we would do a Trash the Dress session. Uh, yeah! Trash the Dress hasn't really taken off around here so we don't get asked to do it very often. We were really excited that we found a bride (rather she found us) who was willing to do this. If you're not familiar with Trash the Dress, check out this cool blog that shows some work from various artists and explains the philosophy behind the movement.

Last week we met Stephanie and Rob at the Worlds Fair Park where we quickly did a u-turn when we discovered a festival going on. We moved to the backup plan, Volunteer Landing, and it ended up being a dream spot. Not too many people, nice light, and lots of water! So here's a collection of some of our favorites...

I played with some textures on this one.

Danielle asked me to post the "before" of the above so you can compare the two. Let us know what you think!

Fountain fun.

They said the water was cooooold!

A wall of water...

That we made them walk through!

A high pressure foot massage.

This was my absolute favorite!

For the record, this was their idea. I would never ask our clients to climb treacherous wet rocks. I might drop hints, but I'd never ask. ;)

But what a great idea it was!

We had such a blast!

Well??? What do you think? Admit it, you want to trash your dress now too! In reality though, nothing was really trashed, just soaked. Danielle used to work at a bridal shop and said that most cleaners should be able to get something like this back in shape. Now if you want to go rolling around in the mud or take up paintball, that might be a different story. So come on, lets go out and play!

Take care everyone!

The Belly!

Hey guys, it's me again! Wes is still slammed taking some awesome photos of a Trash the Dress session, some really fun kids and some adorable new babies (see lots to look forward to in coming weeks on the blog) so I thought I would help him out again. This is my last maternity session. I really wanted Wes to do some artsy shots of me during this last trimester before Amelia makes her debut. My mom can't believe that I would let him put these online but I think they are classy and nice so I don't mind. Hope you enjoy!

This is my one "revealing" pose...I figure my boobs will only be this big for a limited time so I need the photograph to remember them by :)

I'll admit that I was a little nervous when Wes took this photo...he is a fairly large guy to be balancing above me on a bouncy mattress while holding a pretty heavy camera!

This is probably my new favorite portrait of myself. Go Wes!

So thank you Wes for the awesome photos of my belly! I love you bunches and lots!

A trip to the aquarium!

Hey all, it has been a long time since I've posted one of these but I thought with all of the work that Wes has going on right now I would try to help him out some. So a few weeks ago he had this brilliant idea to take Maddie to the Georgia Aquarium. She is really into Beluga whales right now and so we knew she would love it. He said it would be one last trip with mommy and daddy before the new baby gets here. So off we went and here are a few pics for you to enjoy:

Wes the lighting genius that he is noticed how pretty the light was on Maddie while I was fixing her hair at our hotel.

A family portrait at the hotel...of all the hotels we've stayed in, we'd never stayed in a DoubleTree before but once we arrived and were greeted with fresh baked cookies we know we will definitely be staying in one again!

Any time we stay in a hotel, Maddie LOVES to spin in the desk chair in the room.

Yeah she looks adorable here at breakfast with her little monkey around her neck...just know that literally minutes later she had a breakdown and pitched a major fit over not wanting to eat her pancake!

Since Maddie is so into Beluga's right now (she constantly sings the song Baby Beluga) we decided to hit that part of the aquarium first...it was very peaceful to sit and watch them swimming.

This is Wes getting artsy with a shot of the jellyfish. We liked the guy with the mohawk.

Wes and Maddie (future photographer) at the Whale Shark tank.

Now she "chimps"...like father, like daughter right?

The last time we went to this aquarium, I had to be the one to crawl into all of these little spaces with Maddie since I was the smallest adult...now being huge and preggy, Wes got to crawl with her. It was quite funny seeing someone his size fit into the tiny little spaces that were made for kids no taller than about 4 feet!

These lights are all around the ceiling in the atrium of the aquarium and they constantly change colors that kind of flow like water. It's very pretty and Maddie loved it, saying that she wants them in her room!

We had a great trip. It was definitely a great idea on Wes' part for us to get to spend that time with her before Amelia (official name) arrives in September. Wes did realize though that taking a VERY pregnant woman that has a very active baby pressing on her bladder all the time to a place that is filled with water might not have been ideal since I had to sneak off to the restroom literally every 20 minutes! And speaking of the very pregnant me, I believe that the next blog post will be of the artsy maternity shots Wes was able to get of me this past week, so if you are into the belly thing, stay tuned!
